What hides in the shadows

Have you ever thought about what lurks around in the darkness and shadows? Do you sometimes think you have seen someone or something there, only to look closer and find nothing (or alternatively run away)? Maybe it was this guy who has been keeping an eye on you. Or maybe he's not even there.
I had the idea for this piece before going to bed. The idea was to use texture to separate different elements, it might not be as visible in this image, but it is in the original.
